The Xerox Phaser 3200 laser printer is a toner cartridge based multifunction device. Its multifunction capabilities include print, scan, copy, and fax. It is designed with the small to medium office in mind, and includes some unique features such as Scan to PC and ID Card Copy that will appeal to some users.
The design of the Xerox 3200 laser printer, also referred to as the 3200MFP, is quite compact, especially for a multifunction device, which tend to be much larger than dedicated laser printers. Its compact footprint will make it easy to fit into tight spaces, and therefore a great choice for small or home offices that have limited space but need the functionality provided by a multifunction device. Despite its compact size, it still manages to squeeze in a 250 sheet input tray and a 1 sheet bypass tray.
Scanning is done at resolutions as high as 2400 dpi, and there is an automatic document feeder which holds 30 sheets as well as a flatbed scanner. The usual copy features are included, and the unit includes a bonus feature called ID Card Copy scan. This feature allows users to quickly and easily copy two-sided ID cards and other small documents quickly and without using more than one sheet of paper. While this feature may only appeal to offices who need this particular function, it will certainly save time and paper.
The unit has the ability to scan directly to a PC, allowing for quick and easy scanning of documents, which can then be emailed or archived. Scans can also be sent to an email address for convenience. Faxes can be sent from a PC, or scanned into the unit directly, and incoming faxes can be sent directly to a PC, or even forwarded to an email address, which allows users to still receive faxes when away from the office.
Xerox Phaser 3200 toner cartridge prices are higher than competing models. For example, the black Oki C3200 toner cartridge has the same capacity for half the price, and adds color printing capabilities. The laser toner cartridge has a capacity of 3,000 pages. The single printer toner cartridge is easy to access and replace. Xerox 3200 toner cartridges produce excellent quality prints, but the high price of Xerox toner makes it less economical than other models.
Overall, the Xerox Phaser 3200 is a very compact device with some bonus features that make it extremely convenient. Fax forwarding, Scan to PC, and ID Card Copy Scan features are icing on the cake of an already impressive multifunction unit.
