Samsung ML-2851ND Printer Review
As a fairly standard monochrome laser printer, the Samsung ML-2851 is a great machine to have in a small or medium office. The speed is average at about 28 pages per minute with a first page out time of less than 9 seconds. This output rate is fueled by a 400 MHz processor and 32 MB of memory, which can be upgraded to 160 MB if needed.
This unit is constructed durably, boasting a maximum monthly duty cycle of 30,000 prints, though the manufacturer recommends printing less than that for longevity. The frame has a two-tone light and dark gray color and a simple box shape, which might seem outdated considering the sleek designs of most current models on the market. It measures about 14x14x8 inches, so it will be easy to fit into tight spaces.
Up to 250 sheets of standard paper can be held in the input trays and a single-sheet multi-purpose feeder will support transparencies, envelopes, labels and post cards. A single computer can connect through a USB port and an ethernet interface is provided for sharing the laser printer in an office. The networking and duplexing features give this unit the alternative model name of ML-2851ND.
User reviews for this machine are mostly positive with current owners raving about the impressive quality that can be rendered at decent speeds. Though some have complained that the upfront cost and price of replacement Samsung ML-2851 toner is too high, the general consensus is that the final results are worth the money.
The black Samsung ML-2851 toner can generate a maximum resolution of 1200x1200 dpi, which creates crisp text documents but only mediocre graphics. Standard Samsung ML-2851 toner cartridges can yield up to 2,000 pages and the high-capacity toners will produce as many as 3,000 prints each. The result is a cost per page that is only a few cents.
Though it does not have a lot of flashy features or multiple functions, the speed, quality and low cost per page provided by the Samsung ML-2851 printer toner cartridges make this machine a great value.
