When someone is looking for a personal printer, the standard choice would be an inkjet device. These produce at low volumes and have the simplicity that most average people are looking for. However, if color printing is a necessity you might want to look elsewhere because the ML-1250 is a monochrome device. It can only print black-and-white documents.
Regardless of how much room you have in your home office, this unit should fit with measurements of 9x13x14 inches. There are 3 paper trays, 2 on the top and 1 on the front of the frame. They fold in and out, as to not take up any more space than necessary when stored. It weighs less than 15 pounds with the toner cartridges, so even the frailest of users should be able to easily move this machine.
This unit comes with one starter Samsung ML-1250 toner cartridge that has a page yield of 1,500 pages. This should last most users for months. However, when it comes time to find replacement toner, they are available from the manufacturer and third party vendors. The standard Samsung ML-1250 toner cartridges yield up to 2,500 pages and can reach impressive resolutions. Even when using remanufactured Samsung ML-1250 toner, the capacity and quality will remain the same.
There is a mode used to prevent excessive usage of Samsung ML-1250 toner. To use this TonerSave mode, just press the button ,and the unit will conserve printer toner. There is a 66 MHz processor and 8 MB of RAM, which can be upgraded to 64 MB if needed. The ML-1250 is connected via USB and parallel ports and is network capable when a print server is added, which will allow multiple computers to work with it.
