The modular design of the Ricoh Aficio MP 4001 allows it to be expanded to grow with expanding daily demands. The base model will serve as a high-performance printer, copier, and scanner, but faxing can be added if needed. The connectivity options can also be upgraded. A USB port and ethernet interface are built into the MP 4001, but wireless and Bluetooth connections are available as well. The MP 4001G model already has wireless built-in. Multiple extra paper input trays are also available to increase the paper capacity.
With the ability to print or copy up to 40 pages per minute, this monochrome laser printer is ideal for busy offices. Documents can also be scanned at a rate of 60 pages per minute and sent via email or saved to networked computers or shared folders. It only takes the MP 4001 a little over 20 seconds to warm up and less than 5 seconds to begin printing a job. This production rate is a result of high-power internal parts, such as the 533 MHz processor, 768 MB memory, and its 40 GB hard drive.
Compatible with most operating systems, this Energy Star qualified device will be a beneficial addition to almost any big office environment. With the Ricoh MP 4001 toner cartridge installed, it weighs nearly 215 pounds. Fortunately, it comes with wheels on the bottom to make it easier to move. Though it is by no means a small machine (measuring 26.4x35.8x26.6 inches) the all-in-one aspect does make it a space and time saver.
Only black Ricoh MP 4001 printer toner is used in this machine and the maximum copy and print resolution it can create is 600x600 dpi. Documents are scanned at the same resolution, but faxes can only reach up to 400x400 dpi. Each Aficio MP 4001 toner cartridge will yield up to 30,000 pages, making the cost per page fairly low. Replacement toners can be purchased from a number of online vendors.
The standard paper capacity is 1,200 sheets, which consists of two 550-sheet trays and a 100-sheet bypass tray. There are 4 other trays that are available for purchase if users need room to load more paper. The Ricoh MP 4001 toner will create bolder and sharper text and lines on glossy paper, but a variety of media types are supported. An automatic duplexer is built into the MP 4001 for dual-sided printing.
