If you need a workgroup color laser printer for your office and are looking at brands like Lexmark, HP or Dell, you may be looking in all the wrong places. The best printer for you might be the Ricoh Aficio CL7000. Fast, reliable and durable, this machine could be just what the doctor ordered. With its 200,000 page monthly duty cycle, it will meet the needs of even the largest office. It can also adapt very nicely to your business due to its compatibility with Unix, IBM, Solaris, Linux, Mac or Windows operating systems. The CL7000 connects via ethernet or parallel ports, and wireless printing is not supported. You would think a machine like this would be expensive to operate, but due to the inexpensive price tags on Ricoh CL7000 toner cartridges, you won't find this unit to go above your office's budget.

For such a large printer, its dimensions are somewhat compact—the CL7000 measures in at 22.6x16.7x19.3 inches. Its weight is quite heavy, though, at 187.4 pounds. It's definitely going to take more than one person to get this product from place to place when needed. Duplex printing is sadly not offered, but it can be added later. Media types such as labels, transparencies, plain paper, cards and banners are all supported, and the Aficio CL7000 toner prints exceptionally on each.

This color printer uses four Aficio CL7000 toner cartridges, each filled with one color. These toners are black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The black printer toner will last you about 20,000 pages before it runs out, and the color toners will last 10,000 pages. Using the Ricoh CL7000 toner, you can reach black-and-white or color resolutions as high as 1200x1200 dpi. When using only the black Ricoh CL7000 toner, you can produce up to 38 pages per minute. If using color, though, you can only produce about 28 pages per minute with this laser printer. Compared to the competition, the CL7000 comes out on top.
