The Ricoh Aficio AP3850C color laser printer has everything you need in a workgroup printer. With fast speeds and high quality, you will find a lot to like in the AP3850C. Its size is 22.7x26.7x28.2 inches, which will fit pretty well in most offices, not taking up too much space. Its weight of 181 pounds, though, will be a pest to lift and will need multiple people to do so. Duplex printing does not come standard, but it can be added for a little extra cost.

Four Ricoh AP3850C toner cartridges are used in this system—cyan, yellow, magenta and black. The black printer toner will last you 20,000 pages, and the color toners will last you 10,000 pages. These page yields are very respectable and will keep you from having to replace documents too often. If you'd like to save money on your Ricoh AP3850C toner, you can always purchase remanufactured versions from third party vendors for only a fraction of the OEM or manufacturer's price.

Using the black Aficio AP3850C toner, you can produce up to 38 pages each minute, and the color printer toner allows you to produce 28 pages per minute. Though these speeds aren't the fastest on the market, they are pretty average for laser printers. Resolutions of 1200x1200 dpi are possible whether using the black or color Aficio AP3850C toner cartridges.

The Ricoh AP3850C toner can print exceptionally on all of the supported media types, like transparencies, labels, envelopes, plain paper and cards. The largest paper supported is 11x17, which many printers are not able to do making it stand out. It doesn't offer wireless printing, which may be a drawback for some offices, but it does offer ethernet and parallel hookups and networking. The AP850C also supports Windows and Mac operating systems and is Energy Star compliant.
