This fax machine, copier, printer and scanner has the ability to create up to 55,000 pages each month, and it comes with 128 MB of memory upon purchase. This can even be upgraded to 640 MB if desired. The machine is compact with dimensions of only 17.3x21.1x18.2 inches, which will be easy to place almost anywhere in a small desk. It does, however, weigh a hefty 60 pounds, which could be somewhat of annoyance. It is versatile though, printing on transparencies, cards, labels and plain paper. It is also compatible with Windows, IBM, Linux and Mac operating systems.

You need four Lexmark X544 toner cartridges to operate this machine, filled with cyan, yellow, magenta and black printer toner cartridges. The standard color toners yield 1,000 pages, while the high capacity toners yield 2,000 pages each. Either way, though, they are affordable and easy to find online and in stores. Using the Lexmark X544 toner cartridges, resolutions as high as 1200x1200 dpi are possible when printing or copying. When printing or copying up to 25 pages per minute can be produced. The first page out time for these prints is 13 seconds. The copier can enlarge or reduce these documents from 25%-400% of their original size. The fax machine has a modem of 33.6 Kbps, and the scanner can reach optical resolutions of 600x600 dpi.

Even though the printer toner for this laser unit is inexpensive compared to others on the market, remanufactured versions of the Lexmark X544 toner are available from third party vendors, which can save you up to 50%. The remanufactured Lexmark C544 toner will be just as high quality as the manufacturer's version, but they will cost you significantly less. They can even yield the same amount of pages, making them both an economical and an intelligent buy!
