Lexmark X4850 Ink Cartridges

Offering print, scan and copy capabilities in a single cost-efficient device, the Lexmark X4850 is one of the more inexpensive solutions for the multifunction needs of small and home offices. Among its class of inkjet printers, the X4850's maximum output speeds of 30 pages per minute for monochrome documents and 27 pages per minute for color projects are moderately quick. While this device lacks some of the advanced capabilities featured in more expensive all-in-one printers, it does have a decent bundle of features considering its low price tag.

A surprising aspect of the X4850 is its small size of only 7x17x13 inches, which makes it one of the most compact multifunction printers available and will allow the unit to easily share a desktop with a user's computer. Sharing space is not necessary, however, because the machine comes equipped with Wi-Fi support and PC-free connectivity like memory card slots that support direct photo printing and a front USB slot for flash drives. Users will also be able to print from their PC via the rear USB port, and due to its compatibility with Mac and Windows operating systems most computers can be connected to the device.

Upon first glance the unit's control panel appears like it only includes a handful of buttons, but it also has a small 2.4-inch pop-up color LCD that will allow users to preview photos before printing. While more advanced devices include an array of editing and management features on the control panel, the X4850 bundles them in its Productivity Studio software suite. This technology will allow users to touch up images on their computer so they print with precise detail and a crisp resolution of 4800x1200 dpi using color Lexmark X4850 printer ink.

Supported media ranges from specialty PerfectFinish photo paper to banner, envelopes and plain paper. Unfortunately the X4850's main drawback is its minimal paper handling, which can store a maximum capacity of only 100 pages. The machine also suffers due to its lack of an automatic document feeder, which is useful for continuously scanning larger jobs.

The unit's standard print system uses black, cyan, magenta and yellow Lexmark X4850 printer ink cartridges, which are packaged in two separate color and black supplies that can each yield 500 pages. Users also have the option to add a photo color Lexmark X4850 ink cartridge, which lasts for 500 pages and will allow users to print sharper photos.

Admittedly, there are a handful of setbacks the X4850 faces, from its limited media capacity to its lack of PC-free control features. However, this inkjet printer does offer an attractive range of features considering its affordable price, such as versatile connectivity and lab-quality output.
