Lexmark P350 Printer Review
The Lexmark P350 is an inexpensive, portable printer that can handle the personal photo printing needs of those who are frequently on the go. This device is quicker than previous inkjet models in its class like the P315, but its ability to print a 4x6-inch photo in just over a minute is slower than higher-end image devices. Essentially, users will get what they pay for with the P350, including benefits like flexible connectivity and a decent print quality, as well as cons like limited control tools.
The P350 is considered a portable printer because of its slim size, measuring just 9x5x5 inches and weighing less than 5 pounds. The unit incorporates a fold-up handle for efficient mobility, but it lacks the battery-powered option seen in top-rated models like the HP Photosmart A516 and instead includes a wired power cord. To help make up for this, the device does provide connectivity options through its front USB port, and can print directly from flash memory devices or PictBridge-compatible cameras. The unit also has memory card slots on the front that support printing photos straight from popular devices like CompactFlash and SD cards.
Located on the top of the printer is its control panel, which benefits most from the inclusion of a 2.4-inch color LCD that will enable users to access basic menu and editing tools with the help of the adjacent navigation pad. Users will be able to apply minimal edits to photos such as reducing red-eye and adjusting color brightness, but models that use a color touchscreen display are more versatile.
The P350 can handle a variety of popular photo sizes, from 4x6 inches to 5x10 inches, but its small media input tray can only support 20 sheets of paper at one time. When using specialty glossy photo paper this unit can achieve its best output, printing with sharp detail and a crisp maximum resolution of 4800x1200 dpi using color Lexmark P350 printer ink.
To conserve space, the machine's light cyan, light magenta and black printer ink are packaged into a single Lexmark P350 ink cartridge. Users have the option to select remanufactured replacement supplies over OEM supplies to reduce the cost of printing. Replacement Lexmark P350 ink cartridges have a decent yield of up to 500 pages.
The fact that the P350 is able to print a lab-quality output on the go for a low cost may be enough to grab the attention of buyers interested in affordable mobile printers. However, this inkjet printer is far from the best option when compared to models like the expensive A516, which can be operated with a battery power source and print photos a bit quicker.
