Among the favorites of the new line of color laser printers, the Lexmark CS310 includes essential features, efficient production capabilities, and high-quality results. Weighing just less than 45 pounds and measuring approximately 11.5x17.4x16 inches, this unit's physical footprint is as modest as its carbon footprint. Reliable and durable, a maximum of 60,000 pages can be printed monthly, but Lexmark recommends limiting prints to 5,000 pages per month to minimize wear and tear.

The base model of this device is also referred to as the CS310n, which denotes its networking capabilities. A different configuration is the CS310dn, which includes a duplex unit, allowing for dual-sided printing. All versions of the machine are equipped with a USB 2.0 port and will support most operating systems. Users also have the option of adding a wireless connection.

In a change of pace, Lexmark released this printer with a new system that calls for the separation of fusers, imaging units, and toners. The cyan, yellow, and magenta Lexmark CS310 toner cartridges can yield up to 3,000 pages, while the black supply will yield 4,000 pages. A 2-line, 16-character LCD is on the front panel providing a warning when the Lexmark CS310 toner is running low, including how many pages remain.

An 800 MHz processor and 256 MB of RAM provide the engine behind the speed of 25 pages per minute, which includes a first page out time of 10-11 seconds. For the units with duplex capabilities, up to 12 sides can be printed per minute. Using the print setting that creates the top quality rather than the top speed by applying more Lexmark CS310 toner per inch, the maximum resolution is 1200x1200 dpi. Various media types can be printed on as well, such as labels and transparencies.
