Konica Minolta 2350 Printer Review

The Konica Minolta magicolor 2350 color laser printer is designed for the small or medium office environment. Its print quality is excellent in both monochrome and color, like the HP 1500 toner printer, but its slow speeds and awkward design may be an issue for some users.

The design of the Konica 2350 color laser printer is pretty standard, with a few notable exceptions. It is a typical beige box design with the output tray and control panel located on top of the unit. Despite its heavy weight and somewhat bulky size, the unit's footprint manages to be relatively compact. However, strange design decisions eliminate the gains of its smaller footprint. All of the cable connections are located on the side of the unit, requiring quite a bit of extra space on the side. Since the input paper tray is located on the front, it is not really feasible to turn the unit so that the cables come out the back, either.

Print quality is the QMS 2350's main draw. Not only does it produce high quality text and monochrome prints, but its color output is impressive as well. Photo prints are nearly as good as a dedicated photo printer, especially when printed on glossy paper. Unfortunately, this high print quality seems to come with some sacrifice of speed, as the magicolor 2350 is quite slow at printing. Print speed is around 15 pages per minute for monochrome and a very slow 4 pages per minute for color. Some users might find the print quality worth the trade for slower speeds, but in a busy office, it may just be too slow.

Konica Minolta 2350 toner cartridges only come in one size capacity. Both the black and color laser toner cartridge have a page yield of 4,500 pages. Unfortunately, printer toner cartridges are a bit pricey. The cost of the toner regrettably affects the cost per page.

Overall, the Konica Minolta magicolor 2350 is a solid unit with impressive print quality. Poor design decisions and slow speeds really hold it back from its potential.
