Konica Minolta 2300 Printer Review

The Konica Minolta magicolor 2300 color laser printer is designed for the small or medium office workgroup. Its affordable price is appealing, but slow speeds and some annoyances make it a mixed bag.

The Minolta 2300 color laser printer is somewhat bulky. It weighs a hefty 55 pounds and measures 15 inches by 15 inches by 20 inches (HWD). Its footprint remains fairly small, but it still takes up a fair amount of vertical space, and it requires space on the sides and back of the unit in order to clear paper jams and connect cables, meaning it can't be crammed into tight spaces. It comes in three configurations. The 2300 is the base model, the 2300W adds wireless capability, and the 2300DL adds duplexing and extra paper capacity.

Setup is a simple process, like the HP 1500 toner printer. The Konica Minolta 2300 toner cartridges come preinstalled, so the setup process requires only that the user install the software, remove packing materials, and connect cables. The design of the unit places the cable connections on the left side of the unit for some strange reason, requiring extra space on the left side of the unit and causing a minor annoyance.

Konica Minolta magicolor 2300 toner cartridge capacities are fairly generous. The input paper capacity is 200 sheets, and each of the QMS 2300 printer toner cartridges have a capacity of 4,500 sheets each, including each color laser toner cartridge, meaning the unit is equipped to handle a decent amount of printing volume. Toner costs are a bit on the expensive side, however, adding to its cost of ownership. Its included ethernet port makes it easy to connect and share it across a network.

Print speed is a bit disappointing. Black print speed is around 16 pages per minute, and color is around 4 pages per minute. Print quality is good across the board, with good quality for both black and color prints.

Overall, the Konica magicolor 2300 offers the most essential features at a very affordable price. Unfortunately, its flaws and slow speeds hinder its value. For a little more money, users can get a significantly better model with faster speeds.
