IBM 1332 Printer Review
The IBM Infoprint 1332 is a single-purpose laser printer that is designed to be used in a small or medium office. Though it lacks the ability to print in color, it offers impressive speed and professional-grade text and graphics. The 1332 has a modular design, meaning it can be upgraded and expanded to handle growing office demands.
With a 300 MHz processor, the 1332 can produce as many as 35 pages per minute in Toner Save mode. This print mode option minimizes the amount of IBM 1332 toner used per page, thus minimizing the time it takes to print each page. Documents printed in this mode will not have the maximum resolution, which is 1200x1200 dpi, but will still be crisp and clear enough for everyday use. Resolution is measured by the number of Infoprint 1332 toner dots distributed per inch.
The printer itself has a monthly duty cycle of 175,000 pages, while each individual IBM 1332 toner cartridge can yield about 21,000 pages. If the machine is used to maximum capacity, the cost of toners could start to add up. Fortunately, third-party vendors offer remanufactured Infoprint 1332 toner cartridges that will cut operating costs by more than half.
Parallel and USB connections are provided, and an ethernet connection is included in the 1332N model. This device is compliant with Energy Star environmental regulations and is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems. It offers a basic control panel on the front of the white casing, while the entire machine measures about 17x19x14 inches for the base model.
When it comes to expandability, users have many options. The memory can be increased from 32 MB up to 288 MB and the input paper capacity can be raised to 3,850 sheets from the standard 350 sheets by adding more trays. Also, finishing options can be added that will allow the unit to stack, sort, and staple finished documents.
Overall, this is an excellent monochrome printer for a new business or an expanding office. Upgradable features, affordable IBM 1332 printer toner alternatives, and a slew of built-in features will keep the rate of production and output quality at a professional standard.
