When it comes to the versatile and affordable HP Photosmart C3150, most users agree that even though the price is right, the overall hassle that comes along with it may not be worth it. Reviews show that this inkjet printer is inconsistent and often stops working, but most importantly, users have found that the machine eats HP C3150 ink very quickly. Still, on paper, this all-in-one device seems like a good fit for small offices or for personal use.

Just because this machine burns through printer ink rather quickly, doesn't mean the budget has to take a huge hit. Third-party vendors offer remanufactured HP C3150 ink cartridges that cost less than half as much as the OEM versions. These supplies offer the same yield, however, which is 220 pages for the standard black and tricolor Photosmart C3150 ink cartridges, but only 130 pages for the photo color supply, which is only needed for printing high-grade pictures.

The speed of the C3150 is impressive, though it varies depending on the print mode that is selected. In the fastest mode, known as Draft, up to 30 black-and-white pages can be printed per minute. Color pages are printed a little slow, at a rate of 24 pages per minute. On the flip side, to reach the maximum resolution quality, the print mode must be changed to Best, which will slow the output rate. The highest resolution possible is 1200x1200 dpi for black-and-white documents, and 4800x1200 dpi for documents that use all 6 colors of HP C3150 ink.

Weighing in at only 16.9 pounds with a frame that measures 6.4x17.1x15 inches, the C3150 will not only fit comfortably on a small desk or table, but it seems almost portable. This all-in-one is actually quite easy on the eyes, with a shiny white color that is offset by a gray scanner lid cover. On the front of the machine, there are open slots for users to insert memory cards. The other connection option is a basic USB port on the back of the device, which will work with both Mac and Windows computers.

Clearly, this is not the best multifunction inkjet unit on the market, but it certainly offers the versatility that small or home offices are looking for. The remanufactured versions of Photosmart C3150 printer ink will save users money, though according to reviews, users may face a lot of frustration with this device.
