The HP Photosmart 5515 is a personal printer with the ability to also make copies and scan documents and photos. It prints in black-and-white and color, and offers impressive speed for an inkjet device. Compatible with various operating systems and offering both USB and wireless connections, the 5515 will be an ideal addition to a home office. Whether printing text documents for work or restoring old photographs, this unit will deliver with efficiency and high quality.

Though the 5515 is durable enough to handle up to 1,000 prints per month, the manufacturer recommends not exceeding 500 prints to elongate the lifespan of the machine. There is a useful color LCD with touchscreen capabilities that is used to print from the web, preview images loaded through the memory card slots, and monitor the levels of the HP 5515 ink cartridges.

A 4x6-inch borderless photo can print in less than 20 seconds when using Draft mode, which reduces the amount of HP 5515 printer ink applied to the paper. So, to reach optimum quality, the speed will suffer in Best mode but the maximum resolution is 1200x600 dpi for black-and-white and 4800x1200 dpi in color. Up to 22 standard documents can be printed and copied per minute with a first page out time of less than 6 seconds.

With all four Photosmart 5515 ink cartridges installed, this unit still only weighs about 11 pounds. Its footprint is small so it can fit in offices with limited space. The 24-bit color depth of the flatbed scanner allows users to restore old photos easily with an enhanced resolution of 1200x2400 dpi. The 80-sheet input tray can hold an array of media, including specialty photo paper and greeting cards.

The standard HP 5515 ink will yield only 250-300 pages, but high-capacity versions of this printer ink will yield 550 black pages and 750 color pages. Some third-party vendors also offer compatible versions of the high-capacity Photosmart 5515 ink, minimizing the overall cost per page. The built-in memory of 64 MB allow for complex graphics and images, including those sent from handheld devices, to be printed with clarity.

Compact, all-in-one inkjet printers are designed for personal use, though a low-volume, small office would benefit from the HP Photosmart 5515 as well. It is versatile, affordable, and equipped with the ability to print efficiently and with top quality.
