The ability to print documents that are up to 13x19" puts the HP OfficeJet 7000 in the wide-format inkjet printer class, yet its affordable price puts it within reach of home users. Of course it can print standard documents, and even photos as small as 3x5 inches, but what sets it apart from other models is its ability to handle big media types, such as panorama pictures and booklets.

Printing in fast mode will deliver slightly reduced quality, but as many as 33 pages per minute can be printed in black-and-white and 32 pages per minute in color. Once the machine has finished warming up, the first page will print out in about 20 seconds. The 384 MHz processor, 32 MB of memory and a high-speed USB connection all aid in the impressive speed of the 7000. An ethernet port is also available on the back of the unit that allows for networking.

The standard-capacity yellow, cyan and magenta HP 7000 ink cartridges can each yield up to 300 pages each and the high-capacity version will produce up to 700 prints. The standard black OfficeJet 7000 ink cartridges can each yield 420 pages and the high-capacity black printer ink can yield up to 1,200 pages.

The maximum monthly duty cycle is 7,000 pages, but the manufacturer recommends printing no more than 450 documents per month, making the color inkjet printer appropriate for only a small office. The input tray can hold up to 150 sheets, which might be limited for a shared office environment. A variety of media types can be used, such as cards, photo paper, and envelopes. HP Photo Printing software and the Booklet Layout feature help to simplify certain tasks, while the LED lights on the control panel make it easy for users to clearly monitor HP 7000 ink levels.

Advanced inkjet technology and high-quality OfficeJet 7000 ink provide a maximum resolution of 1200x1200 dpi for black-and-white documents, creating excellent text and graphics. The maximum resolution for color prints is 4800x1200 dpi.
