HP 6315 Printer Review

The HP OfficeJet 6315 is a very capable all-in-one inkjet, but its features are uneven. For example, its scan quality is better than its print quality. Its max speeds are fast, at up to 30 pages per minute, but higher quality settings slow things down. HP 6315 printer ink is affordable, but optional photo supplies are needed for the best quality.

The design of the 6315 does a great job of bridging office features with photo-centric conveniences. It has both a flatbed scanner and an automatic document feeder that can quickly scan up to 35 pages in one batch, and its copying and faxing features have dedicated buttons for quick access.

On the photo side, the unit has a USB port for PictBridge cameras or flash drives, and a set of memory card slots for accessing photos. Without an LCD to view the images, however, it relies on the included software. Users can transfer images from their memory card to a flash drive without a computer, though.

The copy function is a little limited, without options for N-up printing or much control over improving originals. Users can make up to 100 copies from an original. Faxing is pretty straightforward. A USB and ethernet ports are both included, making it easy to share, and both Macs and PCs are supported.

With two slots for HP 6315 ink cartridges, users might think it is pretty simple. In fact, both photo color and photo gray OfficeJet 6315 ink cartridges are available, and are swapped with the black supply for photo printing at up to 6 colors. Luckily, remanufactured OfficeJet 6315 printer ink is available to help defray the cost of the extra supplies.

Buyers who are looking for great office features without sacrificing photo quality might be drawn to the 6315. Its HP 6315 ink options are confusing, however, and its print quality is just average. There are better inkjet models in its price range.
