The HP OfficeJet 4635 is a very compact all-in-one inkjet printer with printing, scanning, and copying along with faxing. Its automatic document feeder equips it for faster scanning operations with less work and it can reach ISO speeds of up to 8.8 pages per minute in black and 5.2 pages per minute in color. Reviewers noted that it tends to use color HP 4635 printer ink very quickly, however.

The compact design of the 4635 is one of its best features, especially for home users in tight spaces. It measures just 7x17.5x13.2 inches, and even with the two OfficeJet 4635 printer ink supplies in place, it still weighs just 14.6 pounds. It lacks a wired ethernet port, but since it includes wireless networking support, this will likely be the preferred option anyway. A traditional USB port is included as well.

With support for ePrint and Apple's AirPrint, users can easily print from mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, and with the ePrint app installed; they can even send scans directly to their device. This turns out to be a cost-saving alternative to printing, requiring less HP 4635 ink each month. The paper capacity is a bit light, holding only 50 sheets in the main tray, but the automatic document feeder can hold a solid 35 sheets.

The standard HP 4635 ink cartridges have very small capacities that will make for expensive replacement costs, with an average yield of just 165 pages for the tricolor supply and 190 for black. XL versions of OfficeJet 4635 ink cartridges are the more cost-effective buy, offering around 330 pages for tricolor and 480 pages for black.

For such a small design, the 4635 is a very full-featured inkjet device. Its wireless and mobile printing features are impressive, and its output speeds are solid. Users may find that color printing becomes expensive, however.
