HP 6MP Printer Review
The HP LaserJet 6MP laser printer is a Macintosh-compatible version of HP's popular 6P model. It has the same excellent print quality and reliability, but adds the ability to support both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Speeds are a bit slow, and memory is limited, but it somewhat makes up for its flaws with the low cost of HP 6MP toner.
The design of the machine is straightforward, with a rectangular shape and a few function buttons. There is no LCD screen, but the software handles all necessary functions and features, so this is less of an issue. The unit measures 7.9 inches by 15.7 inches by 17.5 inches and weighs around 54 pounds with the Laserjet toner installed. While its footprint is relatively small, it will take some help to move it into place.
Connectivity could be a problem for some users. The printer includes only a parallel port, which is no longer standard on modern computers. It can be upgraded with a USB adapter for individual use or an optional ethernet port, which is probably the best choice.
LaserJet 6MP toner cartridges are some of the most affordable in the class. The economical cost of HP 6MP toner cartridges is without a doubt the machine's best feature, as printer toner is an ongoing cost for any model. Replacement toners are very widely available, and using compatible HP 6MP toner will save even more money.
The printer includes only 3 MB of RAM, which might be too little for heavy graphics use, but it can be expanded to a maximum of 35 MB. Total paper capacity is 350 sheets, so users won't have replenish often, and the monthly duty cycle is 12,000 pages, so it can handle large volumes.
Many buyers tend to shop for a printer with the best specifications, but if budget-friendly printing is a priority, the HP 6MP is definitely a model to consider. Its power-saving features combined with economical LaserJet 6MP toner costs make it an excellent value.
