The HP LaserJet 2410 and 2410xi are fairly simple monochrome devices with a single-function design that can handle the printing needs of small workgroups. While not as quick as other laser models in its price range, the 2410 can print at adequate speeds of up to 25 pages per minute on 8.5x11-inch media. Although this device has several limitations in regards to its connectivity and on-board control options, users with basic daily printing will benefit from its inexpensive LaserJet 2410 printer toner and decent package of features.

This device has a box-like shape and measures at 16x15x10 inches, which is a little large considering it can only perform a single function. While it is labeled as a desktop printer, users will need to find a large space if they want to use the device and their computer side by side. The 2410's only connectivity options are wired and include parallel and USB ports, which means users will need the computer close by in order to print.

As it does have a low price tag, it's not a surprise that the 2410 lacks certain advanced features like a color LCD to preview and edit jobs before printing, or a front slot to support flash drives. Instead, its front panel is equipped with a monochrome LCD that displays simple status updates on jobs, error messages and LaserJet 2410 toner levels.

One of the 2410's redeeming qualities is its paper handling, which includes two built-in trays that can hold a cumulative 350 pages. Users who find themselves printing more frequently can add more paper input support and increase its maximum capacity to 850 pages. There is also the option to add automatic double-sided printing, which will help conserve paper.

The device implements image enhancement technology that improves the quality of monochrome graphics and text documents and can print a maximum resolution of 1200 dpi using black HP 2410 toner. Compared to other units in its price range, this output quality is sharp and well above par.

The device operates with a single black HP 2410 toner cartridge that can deliver a standard yield of 6,000 pages. Users have the option to replace expired supplies with high-capacity capacity toners that can last up to 12,000 pages each and support medium volumes. To keep printing costs low, users can purchase remanufactured HP 2410 toner cartridges instead of pricey OEM supplies.

When compared to printers that can print up to 50 pages per minute and store thousands of sheets of paper at once like the Konica-Minolta bizhub PRO C5500, the 2410 seems too basic. However, for those users that don't want to spend a lot of money and don't need such a high-performance machine, this printer's reliable output and satisfactory package of features make it an appealing option.
