The HP LaserJet 1500 is a color laser printer that works equally well as a personal or shared printer. Its modern design aesthetic means buyers won't mind placing it in full view, and its fast speeds and excellent quality are available for a very low price. HP LaserJet toner costs are low, as HP 1500 toner is very affordable.

Since the unit uses a multi-pass engine, black prints at 16 pages per minute while color prints at only 4 pages per minute. For the price, this is a decent tradeoff, however, and the target market for this model are users who print in color less frequently, making this less of an issue. If you need a little bit more speed, consider the HP 2600 toner printer.

The machine has a rounded, modern design that is pleasing to the eye, and it is relatively compact. It measures 14.8 inches by 19 inches by 17.8 inches. It weighs 52.7 pounds, though, so it will require some help when moving it around.

Paper capacity is only 375 sheets, which could be limiting. This is divided between a 250-sheet main tray and a 125-sheet multipurpose tray. The 1500L and 1500LXI models both include extra paper capacity, and upgrades are also available for the base model.

Replacing toners won't be a frequent task because HP 1500 toner cartridges have a capacity of over 4,000 pages each. This also won't be an expensive task, as LaserJet 1500 toner cartridges are very affordably priced. Using third-party compatible LaserJet 1500 toner is recommended because it will result in an even lower cost per page.

The HP 1500 is a workhorse of a printer disguised as a budget model. It provides the speed and color printing quality that an office needs at a price that is surprisingly affordable. The low cost of HP 1500 toner will keep running costs down for the life of the machine.
