If you're looking for a compact personal printer for your office, the HP LaserJet 1100 printer could be a good choice. It is very inexpensive and offers all the basics for solid laser quality. Print speeds are a bit slow, however, at only 8 pages per minute. For light-duty use, it would still be a good fit. Saving money on HP toner is a bonus, as HP 1100 toner is very affordable as well.
The compact design of the machine will be welcome for small spaces, though there are certainly more compact units on the market. It measures 14.9 inches by 14.5 inches by 15.8 inches, so its footprint will not occupy a large space on a desk. The vertical orientation of the input paper trays is both a benefit and a drawback. It keeps the unit's footprint small, but also means a curved path for printing, which can make it more prone to paper jams, especially for thick media. HP has considered this problem, however, and included a bypass slot for thicker media and envelopes, which uses a straight path that eliminates bending of the paper. Of course, this means inserting pages one at a time. Multiple models are available with different amounts of memory and paper capacity. They are the 1100A, 1100se, 1100Axi, 1100xi, and 1100Ase. The real savings of the unit come in the economical price of toners, however. The price of HP 1100 toner cartridges is among the lowest in their class. While LaserJet 1100 toner cartridges have a relatively small page yield, their low price still gives a low cost per page. Using compatible LaserJet 1100 toner will make it even more affordable. For the home or small office, it is hard to beat the savings of the upfront price and affordable HP 1100 toner.
