The HP Deskjet 895 is a color inkjet printer equipped to handle basic needs in a home or small office. It is another model in a line of professional printers from Hewlett-Packard and has proved to be efficient whilst maintaining a high level of quality. Black-and-white text documents are crisp and color prints are vivid and sharp, according to expert reviews. This unit is also sold as the 895Cse and the 895Cxi, differentiated by the countries in which they are sold.

When it comes to the speed of production, this can vary based on a number of factors. Tasks that require only black HP 895 printer ink will print about 3 times faster than color prints. If the print mode is set to Best, the speed will be slow but the quality will be as good as it can be. In EconoFast mode, the quality is slightly reduced because less Deskjet 895 ink is used per page, but the maximum speed will be reached, which is 10 pages per minute. Therefore, the print mode should be set based on whether the user wants to prioritize speed or quality.

The paper path in the 895 is U-shaped. This means the 100-sheet input tray extends from the bottom of the machine and the 50-sheet output tray sits just above it. Multiple media types are supported including greeting cards, iron-on transfers, envelopes, transparencies, and photo paper. There is even a special mode that can be set for printing on banner paper.

Two HP 895 ink cartridges sit right next to each other in the inkjet system – one holds black printer ink while the other holds cyan, magenta and yellow. The tricolor supply can generate up to 620 pages before expiring and the black Deskjet 895 ink cartridge can yield over 800 pages. USB and parallel connections are available for single users, but an office that wants to use the 895 as a shared printer will need to purchase an HP Jetdirect ethernet card. Built into the machine is 2 MB of RAM, which should be sufficient for most small office situations. It weighs only 12 pounds and has a compact frame that will fit comfortably on a desk or table.

Though it offers only basic features and functions, the 895 is a solid printer for low-volume daily use. The HP 895 ink is affordable (with compatible versions available) and the quality will meet professional and personal standards.
