HP 600 Printer Review

The HP Deskjet 600 and 600C are a series of inexpensive inkjet printers that have an entry-level design capable of supporting personal printing. Even though the 600 is slightly pricey compared to similar models, it still suffers from slow print speeds of only 4 pages per minute for monochrome documents and 1 page per minute for color projects. Speed isn't the only issue, with limited connectivity and expensive Deskjet 600 printer ink holding this single-function printer back from being one of the top picks in its class.

The 600 can only support Windows operating systems, meaning any users that have a Mac won't be able to print from the device. Connectivity is only offered through a wired parallel interface, which is outdated to the point that users may need to seek additional adapters for operation.

A size of only 17x16x7 inches and weight of 12 pounds make the printer compact enough for desktop use and light enough to be moved from one location to another. The build incorporates a single input tray that can store up to 100 pages and handle media such as plain paper, envelopes, glossy paper and labels. An LED on the front panel will notify users when paper and HP 600 printer ink is running low.

For projects like monochrome text, the device can print with average detail and a resolution of 600x600 dpi using black Deskjet 600 ink. Color projects have a slightly lower output quality, but it should still support basic graphics and personal photos.

The printer operates with one tricolor supply and one black HP 600 ink cartridge that are easy to install inside the access panel. Since each color replacement can last around 350 pages and the black HP 600 ink cartridge only has a maximum capacity of 720 pages, this device is best suited to handle low volumes.

Although the 600 may be an inexpensive inkjet printer, its minimal range of features and light-duty capabilities make it far too primitive to be a good bargain. By spending a little more, users can get a more flexible device to suit their personal monochrome and color printing needs.
