Using thermal inkjet technology, the HP Deskjet 2000C produces professional-quality text documents as well as bold, bright photographs, making it an ideal unit for someone who works from home. This machine will handle business and personal needs, and do so affordably and efficiently. The monthly duty cycle is 1,000, so an environment that calls for high volumes of printing should try to find a printer with a higher print capacity.

For black-and-white text documents being printed in Draft mode, the maximum speed is 20 pages per minute. The addition of the color HP 2000C ink reduces the high speed to about 16 pages per minute. Draft mode is the most efficient option, but not the best mode for top quality. Best mode will allow users to reach the highest resolution, which is 600x600 dpi for black-and-white documents and 4800x1200 dpi for full-color images on specialty paper. This happens because Draft mode uses less Deskjet 2000C printer ink than Best mode does.

Though connection is limited to a standard USB port, both Windows and Mac operating systems are compatible with the 2000C. This inkjet printer is also Energy Star qualified, meaning it has undergone basic environmental testing. Networking is not a built-in feature, but a generic network adapter should allow multiple users to connect to this unit if needed.

The starter HP 2000C ink cartridges that are in the original box do not yield many prints, so it is advised to purchase replacements ready to go. Even the regular-sized Deskjet 2000C ink cartridges do not yield too many pages. The high-capacity black printer ink can yield up to 480 pages while the color supply yields up to 330 pages. Fortunately, remanufactured versions of the HP 2000C ink are available that cost considerably less than the OEM options, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.

Limited capacity features could be an issue for high-volume users, but for those looking for a printer to handle all of the occasional printing needs, the 2000C has a little bit to offer most everybody. This compact device is easy to travel with, affordable to maintain, and a good addition to many homes.
