The Epson WorkForce 615 is an all-in-one inkjet printer that can wirelessly print, copy, scan and fax in black-and-white or color. It offers versatile features and solid functionality that will be of use in a work environment, at home or for students. The speed is not overwhelmingly impressive but should be sufficient for light daily use. When printing standard black-and-white documents, up to 15 pages per minute is the ISO rate, while full color documents are produced at an ISO rate of 9 pages per minute.

A computer is not even needed to print images as memory card slots and a front-loading Pictbridge connection are available. Old photographs can be scanned (to PDF or memory card) and users can implement the color photo restoration software to enhance faded pictures. Also, certain templates can be printed directly from the control panel without using a PC, such as graph paper or stationary. These documents can be previewed on the 2.5" tilted LCD screen.

It is the drop-on-demand MicroPiezo technology that creates an impressive optimized resolution of 5760x1440 dpi, but it is the DURABrite Epson 615 ink that is designed to last for over 100 years. This printer ink is specifically resistant to fading and smudging but is still highlighter-friendly for students or teachers. Four colors of WorkForce 615 ink are used for operation – cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Together, these colors can form a color spectrum beyond what the human eye can even detect, thus creating vivid, detailed photos.

A starter set of Epson 615 ink cartridges is supplied in the box upon purchase so users can begin printing as soon as the setup process is complete. This printer ink will have a low yield, so replacements will be needed in the near future. Multiple online stores carry WorkForce 615 ink cartridges at competitive prices, and some third-party vendors offer compatible Epson 615 ink replacements, as a more affordable alternative to OEM versions.

Compact and lightweight at 18 pounds, the 615 offers only a basic input tray that can hold up to 100 sheets of plain paper or up to 10 envelopes. Glossy, matte and photo paper are also supported. There is a 30-sheet automatic document feeder that sits on the top of the unit and continuously sends paper through the scanner.
