For wide format inkjet printing of up to 44-inch media, the Epson Stylus Pro 9900 can deliver with excellent quality and even extras like network connectivity. With 11 colors of Epson 9900 printer ink to deal with, it can be a bit expensive, and its purchase price is considerable, but for photography, art, and even maps and blueprints, it is tough to beat.

The 9900 is slightly imposing in its dimensions, measuring 74 inches wide, 27 inches deep, and 48 inches tall. It weighs a hefty 256 pounds including the stand and the Stylus Pro 9900 ink supplies. For media handling, it supports both cut-sheet and roll paper, with a rotary cutter that can be either manual or automatic, depending on the user's preference. The maximum printable area is 44.16" for a borderless appearance

The unit has three quality settings from Fine to SuperPhoto, with the highest at a resolution of 2880x1440 dpi that produces very sharp text, photos, and art. With several automatic systems to reduce downtime and problems like head clogging, the Epson 9900 is a great choice for production environments where reliability is essential. Its high price and large design may be an obstacle for smaller spaces and smaller budgets, but its output quality is worth some sacrifices for those who can afford it.
