With such a simple, sleek design, the Epson Stylus NX130 is made for basic use around the house. With a focus on quality, this multifunction inkjet device can deliver vivid and true-to-life photographs. Because of the DURABrite Ultra Pigment Epson NX130 printer ink, the printed pictures can remain just as sharp for over 100 years because the it is resistant to water damage, fading, and smudging.

An optimized resolution of 5760x1400 dpi does not happen quickly, though. Rather, this machine can only produce about 3 black-and-white pages per minute and less than 2 color pages per minute. The amount of time it takes to print a photograph depends on the color setting, detail, and size. A borderless 4x6-inch color photo will take close to a minute to fully finish.

With all four Epson NX130 ink cartridges installed, this unit still weighs only about 9 pounds. The frame measures a compact 17x19x10 inches, so it will fit comfortably in even the smallest room in the house. The 100-sheet input tray and output tray flip in and out, so as to reduce the amount of space required for storage. A thin black lid lifts up on top of the unit, revealing the flatbed scanning surface, which can scan images at an interpolated resolution of 9600x9600 dpi. The NX130 is an excellent machine for restoring old photos and making fresh copies.

The instantly drying Stylus NX130 ink allows users to handle photos and documents as soon as they are completed, which eliminates additional waiting time. The drop-on-demand inkjet technology produces small, 4-picoliter dots of Epson NX130 ink and disperses them in layers to create solid colors, smooth gradients, and sharp lines.

Most major operating systems are supported by the NX130, including Mac and Windows. A USB cord will be needed to connect it to a computer. The only other thing that is needed to start printing are the four Stylus NX130 ink cartridges. The printer ink for this model yields less than 300 pages, but replacements fall on the affordable side, as does the upfront price.

There are not a lot of bells and whistles on the NX130, but for some users, that is exactly what they are looking for. This all-in-one unit is simple to use and produces the kind of photo quality that families need at a low price.
