The Epson Stylus NX125 is an affordable multipurpose inkjet device with printing, copying and scanning capabilities that can handle everyday home office projects like school papers, duplicates of family photos and scanning documents to a PC for editing. The unit is tested to print at ISO speeds of approximately 3 pages per minute for monochrome documents and 2 pages per minute for color, making it one of the slower machines in its class. The device helps make up for its slow speeds and small bundle of features, however, with its above par output and available high-capacity Stylus NX125 printer ink.

The printer can support a maximum paper size of 8.5x44 inches and media like matte paper, glossy photo paper and scrapbook paper. Due to a maximum paper capacity of 100 pages and the option to copy a total of only 20 pages from an original document, the NX125 is best suited for low-volume use.

The unit's front panel is disappointingly limited, incorporating only a handful of buttons and omitting a color LCD display for previewing photos. The NX125 also only includes a USB port for a direct PC connection, leaving out Wi-Fi for mobile printing and slots for inserting a camera's media card. However, the device does benefit from image enhancement tools that will allow users to correct for red eye in photos, as well as software for scanning and saving documents to a PC as JPEG or PDF files.

One of the unit's best attributes is its high quality output that prints fade and smudge-resistant photos with a maximum resolution of 5760x1440 dpi using color Epson NX125 printer ink. Text quality is also excellent, with sharp and dense characters.

The printer uses standard 220-page cyan, magenta and yellow Epson NX125 ink cartridges and a 200-page black supply. Users have the option to purchase high-capacity Stylus NX125 ink that can last up to 265 pages for black and color both. Users can decrease spending by purchasing remanufactured supplies instead of expensive OEM Epson NX125 ink cartridges.

Users that want expanded features like a larger media capacity, more connection options and an expansive control panel should steer clear of the Epson NX125. However, this inkjet printer does provide user-friendly multifunction features and professional results for a low price tag.
