Epson PM 240 Printer Review
Rather than a photo printer that is limited to printing pictures in a home or office, the Epson PictureMate Snap PM 240 is both portable and easy to use. Equipped with a convenient handle and weighing just about 5 pounds, this little inkjet device can be carried around like a lunchbox, but create pictures like a photo lab.
There are various ways users can connect to the PM 240, including memory card slots, a PictBridge port, and a standard USB port. Images can be loaded, previewed, and edited without a computer, but if a computer is being used, both Windows and Mac operating systems are supported. The largest size picture that can be printed is 4x6 inches, and a maximum of 20 pieces of photo paper can be loaded in the input tray at one time.
Four colors of printer ink are used in this device and all are held in a single Epson PM 240 ink cartridge. When the snapshot printer is first purchased, Epson supplies enough photo paper and PictureMate Snap PM 240 ink to print about 20 photos. Each color is ejected though 90 nozzles in dots no larger than 3 picoliters. This creates the details and vivid colors that make photos true-to-life, while the impressive Epson PM 240 ink is rated to last for many decades.
When closed, the PM 240 measures 8.5x6.0x5.7 inches. The output tray folds out of the front of the unit and the lid lifts up, revealing a control panel that features a 2.5-inch color LCD. With the lid and trays open, the photo printer expands to 8.5x13.3x10.3 inches. Users can view and edit the images being loaded from a camera or memory card on the LCD screen, eliminating the need for a computer. The LCD will also alert users when Epson PM 240 ink is running low, and help them to navigate the printer settings.
