Dell A920 Printer Information
The Dell A920 (sometimes referred to as simply the 920) is a color multifunction printer with a curved "space age" look and a low price that is almost unbelievable, especially considering that it can handle color printing, scanning, and copying in a single device. Printer ink costs are high, however, and Dell A920 ink cartridges have small capacities.
When it comes to space-saving designs, the A920 is very impressive. Not only does its curved frame provide an appealing aesthetic, but it also helps to reduce the footprint and weight of the device. It measures 6.4 inches by 17.5 inches by 12.1 inches, with a weight of only 9.5 pounds. The input and output paper trays can slide and fold inward to save even more space when not in use.
Print speeds are rated at up to 13 pages per minute, but real-world speeds are likely to be slower. Standard copy features like reduction and enlargement are easily accessed, and the scanning resolution can go as high as 9600 dpi to capture excellent detail.
Despite its great specifications, CNET gave the model a rating of only 2 out of 5 stars. They liked its low price and great software, and found it very easy to use. Unfortunately, they found its output quality disappointing, and printing did not come close to the rated speeds.
Another issue with the inkjet is printer ink costs. Dell A920 ink tends to be more expensive than many competing models. Add to this the fact that Dell A920 ink cartridges have fairly small capacities, and the long-term cost of Dell A920 ink eats up the savings from its initial low price.
While the upfront price of the Dell A920 is very appealing, it disappoints on many levels. Its slow speeds, lackluster output quality, and high operating costs make it a difficult model to recommend.
