The Dell 2330, as well as the Dell 2330dn model with additional duplex and networking capabilities, have been tested by experts and given the thumbs up as satisfactory monochrome laser printers for medium to large workgroups. A 2330d model is also available for duplexing without the networking. All models boast a maximum speed of up to 35 pages per minute on A4 media. While its quick speeds and versatile package of features are primed to handle the typical standard black-and-white projects like text memos, the 2330 has setbacks, like inconsistent quality for graphics, that may put off some buyers.

The most notable positive of owning this device is the low asking price, rarely seen for 50,000-page per month office printers. This affordable cost doesn't come without its sacrifices, however. For instance, the unit and its Dell 2330 printer toner have been tested to create photos and graphics that lack the smooth consistency and accuracy desired in a professional setting. Standard text documents print with a sharp maximum resolution of 1200x1200 dpi, but these more complex projects unfortunately fall short.

Despite this, a number of features keep this device appealing, including a standard media capacity of 300 pages that can be increased to a maximum of 800 sheets with optional trays offered by the manufacturer. The device's standard RAM can also be upgraded to 288 MB from its standard of 32 MB to increase its desirability for large volume offices.

This machine has a simple print system with only a single Dell 2330 toner cartridge that will only require the purchase of one replacement at a time. With a yield of only around 2,000 sheets for the standard Dell 2330 toner cartridge, running costs might get a bit high. However, the option of a 6,000-page high-capacity supply is better designed for larger volumes.

While reviews note the print quality to be lacking for projects with graphics, basic day-to-day text projects will not disappoint. The added capability of duplexing and networking with the 2330dn, as well as high-capacity toners, make this workgroup device a decent choice.
