Canon MP280 Printer Review

The Canon PIXMA MP280 has multifunction features that allow it to scan and copy in addition to printing photos and text documents. The color inkjet unit also has specialty features such as Full HD movie print, which allows users to play a movie and print specific frame snapshots, or clips when they connect a video device. It is not particularly a fast machine; capable of producing only about 8 pages per minute for text and 5 pages per minute for graphics. This primarily makes it a model for low-volume home use.

The manufacturer's full-lithography inkjet nozzle engineering and Canon MP280 printer ink can produce small droplet sizes of 2 picoliters and a sharp resolution 4800x1200 dpi. On the manufacturer's own photo paper, experts have reviewed projects to print with even better detail. It provides software like Auto Photo Fix 2 to further ensure the quality of images, enhancing them with features like red-eye removal to get the best output results.

Despite its designation as a home printer, the MP280 is reviewed to produce images and even text as if it were a professional device. Black PIXMA MP280 ink is unfortunately tested to be a high expense, so frequent monochrome prints can add up.

Both standard and high-capacity Canon MP280 printer ink cartridges are available in compatible and genuine forms. The high-capacity tricolor PIXMA MP280 ink can yield approximately 244 sheets, only around 24 pages more than the standard. The larger-yielding black Canon MP280 ink cartridge has a capacity of 401 sheets. Despite yielding only a few dozen more pages, the high-capacity supplies are barely more expensive and worth the investment, as they bring the cost per page down.

With a compact design capable of fitting on any desktop, the MP280 can print lab-quality images right at home. For users that only have occasional black printing needs, this multifunction photo printer will be able to deliver professional and affordable projects.
