This machine is equipped with the printing technology to generate high-grade photographs as well as professional-level text documents. What it lacks in versatility, it makes up for in quality. The FINE technology uses nozzles to eject 2-picoliter droplets of PIXMA iX7000 ink to create thousands of dots that produce a massive color spectrum.

USB and ethernet ports are built in, so users have the option of connecting a single PC or multiple computers. Unfortunately, the iX7000 does not have a PictBridge port for direct connection to digital cameras. This machine does allow for duplex printing, though, which means printing on both sides of a paper. The maximum single-side print speed is 10.2 pages for black-and-white and 8.1 pages in color.

When it comes to operational costs, printer ink is really the only consumable that will have to be regularly replaced. The black Canon iX7000 ink cartridge can yield up to 530 pages, while the other colors can yield as many as 930 pages each. This will run out quickly for users printing frequently, especially those printing a lot of pictures. Fortunately, compatible PIXMA iX7000 ink cartridges are available at a reduced price compared to the OEM versions.

Though it does not have multiple functions, the iX7000 is versatile in its ability to print high-quality work documents as well as lab-grade photographs.
