The Canon PC428 laser copier and printer is designed for the home or small office user. Its portability and compact size are impressive, but its lackluster speed and limited options reduce its value. For simple printing without copying functions, consider the Oki C5200 that features Okidata 42127404 toner.

The Canon PC428 laser copier is targeted toward users who need a copy machine that is very compact and portable, but doesn't mind sacrificing speed and options to achieve it. In fact, when compared to competing products and even multifunction devices available at the same price, its portability is its only real attribute. While it might seem a good fit for a home office user who needs a compact design, competing products have a lot more to offer at a similar size and price.

The machine is designed to fold into a compact rectangular shape when not in use. Its input and output trays both fold to make the unit as compact as possible, and there is even a handle for better portability. One problem with the design is that the scanning platen moves back and forth while copying. This could create a problem for bulky books and other large materials, though single sheets and smaller items will do fine. It also only has black-and-white capabilities, which may be a drawback for some. The addition of the Lexmark C534 that uses Lexmark C5240CH toner is definitely worth considering.

Canon PC428 toner cartridges incorporate a simple single cartridge design that combines the toner and drum into a single laser toner cartridge.
