Canon L800 Printer Review
In a world consumed by multi-purpose laser machines, there are some offices that only require simple, stand-alone devices. The Canon L800 is a dedicated fax machine with copying capabilities. It comes with an automatic document feeder to add to its convenience. There is no flatbed scanner so larger documents or sizable items cannot be copied or faxed.
This is a monochrome device, meaning it prints with black printer toner only. Color faxing and copying are not offered. The single Canon L800 toner cartridge can yield up to 4,000 pages, which should last low-volume users for months. When it comes time that replacement toners are necessary, there are a few options. An OEM Canon toner cartridge is available from various vendors, but the price tag is a bit high. So, third party vendors have remanufactured Canon L800 toner cartridges that cost only a fraction of the manufacturer's price but offer the same high quality.
This unit has a transmission speed of 14.4 Kbps, which is actually quite slow for current machines on the market. It takes a few seconds to send a fax using G3 speeds; however, it is still slower than most. The standard page capacity is 600, which is broken into two trays. However, there is an optional 500-sheet tray that can bring the total page capacity to 1,100 pages. This upgrade is designed to help growing offices save money by not requiring a new machine.
User reviews are mostly positive, though complaints about the speed can be found. However, for most offices with low-volume needs, the speed will suffice. The high quality prints that the Canon L800 toner can produce seem to be appreciated for their professional finish. This fax machine is not only reliable, but it is durable as well, lasting for years. Overall, there are few basic fax machines out there that are a better value than the Canon L800.
