Canon 2220 Printer Review
The Canon imageRUNNER 2220 is a true multifunction laser device, incorporating 4-in1 features that can send scans and faxes, print original documents and copy important jobs. For the option to print or fax over a network connection, the series also includes the 2220N and 2220i models that are slightly pricier. In addition to its lack of networking, the 2220 also is set back by slower speeds of 22 pages per minute that will keep users from achieving heavy-duty work volumes. A number of positive attributes make up for its negative features, however, such as long-lasting and inexpensive imageRUNNER 220 printer toner, flexible paper handling and an easy-to-use interface.
The 2220 is a good fit for small offices, providing Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform technology that will allow multiple users to customize different applications and manage their documents and workflow. One feature that helps enable this customization is its color touchscreen panel, which displays icons that can be tailored to an individual user's needs and provide quick access to many popular functions. This technology allows the 2220 to function as a standalone copier and fax machine, allowing users use to dial or store popular fax numbers and select the number of copies needed for a job.
The unit's array of media features will enable users to save on supplies by automatically copying or printing double-sided on paper, as well as send unattended scans or faxes with its 50-sheet automatic document feeder. Paper handling is also impressive, with a generous standard capacity of 1,000 pages that can be upgraded to a maximum of 4,550 pages to support increasing workflows.
The machine is able to duplicate a project up to 999 times with consistency and a decent maximum resolution of 600x600 dpi using black Canon 2220 toner. The device excels at printing text jobs and graphics, which have crisp lines and characters with a sharp resolution of 1200x1200 dpi using black imageRUNNER 2220 toner.
Toners shouldn't drive up the machine's running costs because it only operates with one black Canon 2220 toner cartridge at a time. With impressive maximum yields of up to 10,000 pages for each replacement Canon 2220 toner cartridge, this printer should be able to handle medium volumes.
There's a lot to like about the 2220, from its upgradable media capacity to its color touchscreen display. While this monochrome all-in-one printer doesn't have the quickest speeds, it should be a good fit for small offices trying to expand their productivity.
