Canon 2030 Printer Review
The industrial design of the Canon imageRUNNER 2030 gives large offices the opportunity to save space and time by combining four essential offices devices into one powerhouse machine. Consisting of a printer, fax machine, copier, and scanner, the 2030 has a number of expandable features and versatility to serve as a hub for productivity in busy work environments. It offers networking as well as a USB port, and is compatible with most major operating systems.
The copier has resizing options and up to 99 duplicates can be made per original. Duplicates can have a maximum resolution of 1200x600 dpi. The flatbed scanner has an attached 50-sheet automatic document feeder and can scan documents at a rate of 20 pages per minute. The print resolution maxes out at 1200x1200 dpi and the print speed can be as fast as 30 pages per minute. The highest resolution and output rate cannot be reached at the same time, as there are different print modes that affect the amount of Canon 2030 toner that is used per page, which affects the speed and quality.
Though only black imageRUNNER 2030 toner is used to print, documents can be scanned and saved in color. The drum unit in this machine will last for about 55,000 pages before starting to have a negative impact on the quality, while the Canon 2030 toner cartridges will only yield about 8,300 pages. Though the yield of these toners is considered high in comparison to some other office all-in-one devices, high-volume offices could go through them pretty quickly. Buying imageRUNNER 2030 toner cartridges in bulk will reduce the overall cost for each item and minimize the chance of being without printer toner when it is needed most.
When it comes to the paper capacity of the 2030, there are a number of trays that come with the base model and a few more that can be added as needed. Two 250-sheet trays and an 80-sheet bypass tray for alternative media such as labels and envelopes are provided. If this is not enough, however, two more 250-sheet trays can be added, bringing the grand total to 1,080 sheets. The flatbed scanner comes with an automatic document feeder, which can hold up to 50 documents to be copied or scanned.
Though it weighs 116 pounds, the 2030 is rather compact considering it is a Super G3 fax machine, scanner, copier, and printer all in one. Offices with heavy demands that are in need of a fast-paced production hub will appreciate the features this laser machine has to offer. Plus, the high-yield Canon 2030 toner should keep the device up and running throughout the busy workweek without the need for constant replenishment.
