Canon D1180 Printer Review
The Canon imageCLASS D1180 was built with small office users in mind. This multi-functioning unit has the ability to produce up to 20,000 documents each month, and it is a monochrome machine meaning it can only print black-and-documents. It can scan, print, copy and fax, and somehow the D1180 fits all of those functions into a 17.7x18.6x18.3 inch frame. When it comes to weight, though, it is a little heavy at 48.5 pounds with the Canon toner cartridge. One of the things buyers are most conscious about when shopping has to be price, and in the case of the D1180 the price is right. Usually costing under $1,000, it will be affordable for small offices with very high print volumes. It also has a low cost of maintenance due to its inexpensive Canon D1180 toner cartridges.
Due to its monochrome nature, only one imageCLASS D1180 toner cartridge is needed for printing and copying. Using this imageCLASS D1180 toner, resolutions of 1200x600 dpi are available for both functions. The printer toner also makes it possible for up to 100 copies to be made from an original document. Speeds of 30 pages per minute can be reached as well with the help of Canon D1180 toner.
When scanning, optical resolutions of 600x600 dpi are standard, and an interpolated resolution of 9600x9600 dpi is possible as well. A 24 bit color depth comes standard. The fax is very impressive offering both dual access and an email function. Delayed transmission and remote fax retrieval are both standard as well. The maximum transmission speed is 33.6 Kbps, and resolutions of 406x391 dpi are as high as the fax resolutions will go. It also comes with a 512 page total memory capacity.
Windows and Mac operating systems are both compatible with the D1180, and many media types can be printed on with the Canon D1180 toner. All around, this is a good buy, and its toners won't break the bank.
