Canon CFX-L3500 Printer Review
The Canon CFX-L3500 and CFX-L3500IF are a series of laser printers that offer superior print quality and multifunction capabilities such as printing, copying, scanning and faxing documents. Unfortunately, the CFX-L3500's maximum speeds of only 6 pages per minute for monochrome documents make it one of the slower printers in its class. To help make up for this, the device benefits from features like affordable toners, software that enables straightforward control of projects and a low price tag, which does make it a good bargain for small offices.
With its 30-sheet automatic document feeder and a monochrome LCD that will keep users updated on document progress, this device incorporates many of the standard features seen in comparable multipurpose units. The front panel also includes a variety of buttons for access to tools like speed dialing for frequently used fax numbers, adjusting copy size and dictating how many are needed, and a four-way directional pad for quick navigation through menus.
Users can also access a number of features with their PC thanks to its USB port connection and MultiPASS Desktop Manager software, which will allow them to program speed dials and fax settings directly. The unit's TWAIN-compliant desktop scanner makes it easy for users to quickly scan documents to their PC to be saved, emailed or edited.
The machine's media handling is limited to only a single 100-sheet input tray, which can accept media like plain paper, envelopes and transparencies. Considering this and its slow speeds, the CLX-L3500 is best suited to handle low-volume small offices. For basic projects like text memos and graphics presentations, the unit can print detailed results with a maximum resolution of 600 dpi using black Canon CFX-L3500 printer toner.
The unit's low running costs are due in part to its use of only a single black Canon CFX-L3500 toner cartridge, which can yield up to 2,700 pages. To further reduce spending, users can replace expired supplies with remanufactured Canon CFX-L3500 toner cartridges rather than pricey OEM supplies.
The CFX-L3500 isn't bringing any new features to its class of all-in-one printers and it is among some of the slower models. However, it offers a nice package of features and a user-friendly design that are decent considering its low asking price.
