The Canon BJC-80 is a personal inkjet printer that is intended to function as a mobile device to fit the needs of individuals who are frequently on the go. The device is suited to handle small, simple jobs, since it doesn't have a very fast output rate, printing a maximum of 4 pages per minute for monochrome documents and 2 pages per minute for color. While the BJC-80 is one of the more affordable mobile printers available, it doesn't package quite as many features or print the best output when compared to the top models in its class.

A weight of only 3 pounds will allow users to easily carry the BJC-80, while its size of 6x2x11 inches makes it compact enough to fit in a carry-on bag or share desktop with a computer. What's nice about this machine is that users won't even need a wired connection to a computer in order to print thanks to its wireless connectivity, which can be configured with Windows operating systems. Users also don't have to worry about bringing along a cable to power the printer since it has an optional rechargeable battery that can last for up to 200 pages of printing.

When not in use, users can fold down the BJC-80's built-in plastic lid to protect the machine. When this lid is folded back it aids the unit's 30-sheet automatic document feeder to hold paper so users don't have to feed each individual page. Supported media ranges from standard plain paper and labels to high-gloss paper.

One of the chief concerns with the BJC-80 and many other mobile printers is output quality, which ranges from below par to average depending on the complexity of the project. The device can print a maximum resolution of 720x360 dpi using color and black Canon BJC-80 printer ink, which isn't quite up to the quality seen in personal desktop printers, but should be good enough for internal jobs.

To conserve space the unit packages the cyan, magenta and yellow printer ink into a single supply that can last approximately 40 pages. The black Canon BJC-80 ink cartridge is separate and can yield up to 45 pages. Those with frequent monochrome jobs have the option to purchase a 150-sheet Canon BJC-80 ink cartridge for low-volume printing.

The Canon BJC-80 doesn't add any unique features to its class of mobile printers, and buyers that have Mac computers unfortunately won't have the option to print wirelessly. Color and monochrome output also isn't the best when compared to similar units, but this inkjet printer is one of the more affordable options available for those in need of mobile device.
