Brother MFC-8710DW Printer Review

The Brother MFC-8710DW and MFC-8710 are monochrome laser printers that have a solid package of features to fit the needs of micro or small offices. The MFC-8710DW's all-in-one design can work at acceptable speeds, with documents printing at an average rate of about 10 pages per minute compared to the rated maximum of 40 pages per minute. There are a number of elements to appreciate with this device, and considering its multipurpose design it has a reasonable asking price.

The unit's most notable feature is its versatile media handling, which includes built-in duplexing to conserve paper, a 250-sheet paper drawer and a 50-sheet multipurpose tray. Users can even expand the total media capacity to 500 sheets with an additional paper tray. In addition to the flatbed scanner, it also includes a 50-sheet document feeder that can continuously scan multi-page projects.

The device has a size of around 17x19x16 inches that is likely too large for use on a personal desktop, but should be fine in a small office. The front panel comes equipped with standard features like an LCD for progress reports and menu access, a full keypad for fax dialing and a USB port for direct printing. In addition, the machine also provides wireless printing and compatibility with AirPrint and Google Cloud Print, as well as a special Brother mobile print and scan application.

Output is passable, but not excellent, and should suit internal distribution in an office. Graphics and images can print with a maximum resolution of 2400x600 dpi using color Brother MFC-8710DW printer toner, and monochrome text can print with a resolution of up to 1200x1200 dpi.
