Brother MFC-7650 Printer Review
These days, multifunction machines are common in the workplace, providing a variety of capabilities wrapped up into a single device, preserving money, space, and time. Before these all-purpose pieces of equipment became the standard, units like the Brother MFC-7650 led the initial surge of the all-in-one option. The MFC-7650, also known as the MFC-7650MC, operates on a small scale, with limited features and mediocre performance statistics, but still this printer, scanner, copier, and fax machine was once considered innovative.
Unlike most modern all-in-one machines, this unit does not offer wireless or built-in networking, but rather a simple wired connection. The input paper capacity is 200 sheets, while the output tray will hold considerably less than that. Various media types are supported including envelopes, transparencies, labels, cards, and glossy paper, expanding the variety of tasks that can be completed with the MFC-7650. The paper path is straight and only a single pass is required because this is a monochrome machine, meaning it only uses black Brother MFC-7650 toner.
Speaking of toners, each Brother MFC-7650 toner cartridge can yield up to 2,200 pages, which should last quite a while in low-volume offices. Replacement printer toner can be purchased from a number of resellers online. Some third-party vendors offer compatible Brother MFC-7650 toner, which comes with a guarantee to reach the same quality output and yield the same number of pages, but at a lower cost per page.
The TWAIN scanner is also a single-pass system but only scans at 8-bit grayscale, so users shouldn't expect extremely sharp output. The fax machine has decent processing speed for occasional faxes, and copies will be produced with an impressive quality of 600x600 dpi. This is the same resolution as standard prints.
With a full Brother MFC-7650 toner cartridge, this device weighs less than 20 pounds and measures approximately 15x18x10 inches. It may not have some of the updated features that many contemporary multifunction laser units offer, but it can still be a sufficient addition to a small office.
