Brother HL-7050 Printer Review
The Brother HL-7050 is a run-of-the-mill laser printer that can produce professional quality documents at an efficient rate, making it an ideal machine for a standard office. Though it cannot print in color, the black-and-white documents can reach a maximum resolution of 1200x1200 dpi, which will deliver crisp and clear lettering as well as sharp graphics and images.
In a work environment, it is important to have equipment that can keep pace with the daily activities, and the HL-7050 will do just that. This device can generate up to 30 pages per minute, with the first page printing in less than 11 seconds from the moment the print button is clicked. To reach the optimum speed, however, the print mode must be set to Toner Save mode, which will reduce the amount of Brother HL-7050 printer toner used on each page.
Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems are all compatible with this printer. Individual users can connect to it through USB, parallel, or serial ports, while offices can utilize the built-in ethernet interface for networking. Duplex printing is an optional feature, and a simple status LCD displays options, job status, and Brother HL-7050 toner levels.
The monthly maximum duty cycle is 150,000 prints, but about 8,000 prints is the recommended average so as to avoid excessive wear and tear. Fortunately, the drum and toners for this machine will not need to be replaced too often. The Brother HL-7050 toner cartridges can each yield up to 12,000 pages, while the drum unit should last for as many as 40,000 printed pages.
Some of the essential features of the HL-7050 include a 266 MHz processor that powers the machine, secure printing technology to ensure confidentiality, and the built-in RAM, which starts at 32 MB but can be increased to 288 MB if needed. The paper capacity can also be expanded from 600 sheets up to 2,100 sheets, by adding more paper trays. This upgrade will require more space than the original 19.1x18.9x16.6-inch frame, however.
Though this unit may be considered a basic model, lacking fancy features and multiple functions, it has its benefits. It offers impressive speed to keep up with the daily demands, high-yielding Brother HL-7050 toner cartridges that will reduce the cost per page, and expandability for future growth.
