The Brother HL-5350 laser printer is built for the small office or workgroup, but it doesn't sacrifice features or connectivity, despite its compact design. It can print up to 32 pages per minute, and includes both duplexing and networking, which is why it is also referred to as the HL-5350DN.

The standard HL-5350 model includes a single paper tray that can hold up to 300 sheets, but this might be a downside for some busy offices. This is probably why Brother offers the HL-5350NLT model with an additional paper tray of 250 sheets. Mobile printing is available for all models via the iPrint&Scan app for Apple and Android devices.

The HL-5350 is just compact enough to work as a personal model, but it might be a little bulky on some desk surfaces. It measures 9.7x14.6x15.1 inches and has a weight of 20.9 pounds when the Brother HL-5350 printer toner is installed. There are only two buttons on the control panel, so most functions are controlled through the software. The 5 LEDs do give indications of when the paper supply or Brother HL-5350 toner need replacing.

That is not to say that the Brother HL-5350 toner cartridges will need replacing often, as they have large yields of up to 8,000 pages for the high-capacity versions, and 3,000 for the standard toners. OEM prices for Brother HL-5350 toner cartridges are reasonable, but compatible supplies are the more cost-effective option.

Compared to a multifunction machine, the Brother HL-5350 might seem a bit limited in its single-function design, but it has the speed and capacity to handle a small office's basic printing needs easily. Its affordable price and low-cost supplies just add to its value, and the upgraded model is available for those who need more paper capacity.
