It does not offer networking, as it only has a USB and parallel port. It is, however, supportive of various operating systems, including Windows, Mac, and Linux. Up to 99 copies can be made per original and users have the option of changing the size of the image from 25% to 400% the original size. The maximum copy resolution is 600x300 dpi, while the print quality maxes out at 2400x600 dpi. Color scanning is functional but documents can only be printed in black-and-white. The scanner has 256 levels of grayscale and an interpolated resolution of 9600x9600 dpi.

There are two consumables that will need to be replaced: the drum unit and the Brother DCP-7010 toner cartridge. Each drum should render up to 13,000 pages, but only about 2,500 pages can be yielded for each Brother DCP-7010 toner cartridge. For users on a limited budget, there are ways to minimize the operational spending. Though it is a relatively low-capacity machine, the DCP-7010 can produce up to 20 pages per minute. The first page will begin printing less than 10 seconds after starting the print job. The input tray holds 250 sheets of standard paper, though alternative media is supported, and the output tray can hold up to 100 documents. A memory of 16 MB is built in, and the 2-line LCD will show users the progress of tasks and the level of Brother DCP-7010 toner remaining.

This compact device that includes a scanner, printer, and copier is ideal for small workspaces. Though it lacks networking and other helpful features such as duplex printing, the Brother DCP-7010 has the necessary features to keep up with a variety of low-volume daily tasks.
