The Lexmark C736 is a robust office printer that uses color laser technology to quickly and precisely produce a variety of documents. A powerful 900 MHz processor helps create a speed of 35 pages per minute, which averages to less than 2 seconds per print. This speed is more than adequate for most office environments. The warm-up time is short and it takes less than 10 seconds for the first page to print out, reducing wait time even more.
Some of the unique features of the C736 are the LCD display control panel that can be tilted by the user and the USB port on the front of the machine, which also acts as a PictBridge connection for cameras. A rear USB port can provide a direct connection to a single computer, and an ethernet interface is also built-in for networking, which is why this machine is sometimes referred to as the C736N. The other model options are C736DN that features networking and duplexing (double-sided printing) and the C736DTN that adds an extra paper tray.
The black Lexmark C736 toner cartridge has a maximum page yield of 8,000 prints, so the cost per black-and-white document will be low. The color toners yield a bit less at 6,000 pages, but this still keeps the cost per page fairly low. Fortunately, for users that print high volumes, many reputable third party vendors sell compatible Lexmark C736 toner cartridges, which will cost significantly less than OEM products.
Black-and-white text documents and graphics will have a maximum resolution of 1200x1200 dpi using only the black Lexmark C736 toner. Using all four colors of printer toner will increase the quality, and the maximum resolution created printing with color Lexmark C736 toner is 2400x600 dpi.
A number of optional features can be added to the C736 if users prefer, making this a laser printer that can be molded to meet specific office needs. Wireless support is an optional upgrade and the standard paper capacity of 650 sheets can be increased up to a maximum of 4,300 sheets with the addition of 2 trays that hold 500 sheets each and a 2,000-sheet feeder. The memory is another upgradable feature; the built-in RAM is 256 MB, but that can be expanded to 1,280 MB.
