Though it may seem more comforting to purchase electronics from well known manufacturers such as HP, Xerox or Canon, there are lesser known companies that deliver machines that are just as capable. Lanier may not be as well known as some other major vendors, but the Lanier 2138 is a high-grade color laser printer that was built to accommodate the needs of mid to large size offices with demanding printing needs. This unit is network ready via LAN interface and has a single-pass system that applies printer toner in one fluid motion, speeding up performance time.
The 2138 is compatible with most major operating systems which should work just fine for most offices. It has an automatic duplexer, which makes double sided printing possible. It has a standard page capacity of 1,100; however, additional trays can be purchased that will increase the page capacity to 3,100 sheets. For any large or growing office environment, the maximum paper capacity will more than suffice.
Upon purchase, this laser unit comes with four Lanier toner
cartridges filled with cyan, magenta, yellow and black printer toner. Often, "starter" toner cartridges
that come in the box upon purchase have a lower page yield than standard toners. Not with this unit! The Lanier 2138 toner cartridges that are supplied have the same page yield as replacements, which is 20,000 pages for black and 10,000 pages for each color.
Using the high quality Lanier 2138 toner, high resolutions can be produced as well as up to 38 pages per minute. This speed towers over most of the competition, which will be good for offices that print a lot of invoices or memos. Remanufactured Lanier 2138 toner is available for users with a budget, but the same high quality will be reached. Overall, just because the Lanier name is not as well known, their printers still may be the best value.
