HP 600 Printer Information
The HP OfficeJet 600 is one of the more basic multifunction inkjet units around, but its print, scan fax and copy capabilities are available for one of the lowest price tags among similar models. Output speeds are one of its disappointing elements, printing at a maximum of only 5 pages per minute for monochrome documents and 2 pages per minute for color projects. The 600's mediocre bundle of features are only fit to support low-volume home offices, and over time the cost of its replacement OfficeJet 600 printer ink may become a lot to handle.
A size of only 17x14x10 inches makes this one of the more compact multipurpose units in its class and enables it to be used on a desktop. The device comes with PC-based management software that will allow users to quickly set up the device, scroll through menu options and monitor the status of projects and the level of paper and HP 600 ink remaining. Unfortunately, those with Mac computers won't have access to this since the software is only compatible with Windows operating systems.
Users also have access to certain control features through its simplistic front panel, which provides buttons for selecting the amount of copies needed for a project, and a monochrome LCD that will provide quick information on job status and any printing errors. The scan function suffers from its lack of a flatbed scanning surface, but it is easy to scan projects to PC-based files.
The 600 can handle standard media like cards, labels, glossy paper and envelopes, but its maximum input capacity of only 150 pages targets it towards light-duty printing. The unit can still easily support a range of basic projects like school papers, personal photos and printing addresses on an envelope. Color and monochrome projects print with a satisfactory detail and resolution of 600x600 dpi using OfficeJet 600 printer ink.
Standard yields of only 350 pages for the tricolor supply and 720 pages for the black HP 600 ink cartridge are relatively low and could result in busy users having to frequently replace supplies. To help lower costs users can shop at third-party vendors for remanufactured HP 600 ink cartridges that are less expensive than OEM supplies.
Even considering its low asking price, the 600 suffers from too many setbacks like slow speeds and pricey replacement supplies to make it a bargain. Buyers looking for more versatility in their all-in-one inkjet printer should probably spend a bit more for better models.
