With the ability to produce excellent prints, fast copies and sharp scans, the HP LaserJet M1005 is a multifunction laser printer that can handle nearly anything a small office user can throw at it, except color prints. For color printing capability, evaluate the HP 2840 toner
printer. The M1005 has a low upfront price that will appeal to those on a tight budget, economy modes for saving on HP M1005 toner and energy-saving modes for reducing power consumption.
Print and copy speeds are very fast, at up to 15 pages per minute, which is very impressive for the price. The printing engine is limited to 600 dpi, but the FastRes 1200 technology can simulate printing at 1200 dpi for better image quality. Paper capacity is a bit limited at only 150 sheets. There is a priority input tray that can hold up to 10 pages, however. The flatbed scanner handles scanning and faxing functions, and the intuitive control panel makes it easy to use.
The unit is also built for the economy. It is Energy-Star qualified, meaning it reduces power consumption when possible. It also has multiple ways of saving on laser toner
usage. EconoMode reduces the amount of LaserJet M1005 toner used for each page with only a slight reduction in quality. N-up printing allows users to fit more than one page on a sheet, reducing toner cartridge
usage as well.
HP M1005 toner cartridges have a capacity of over 2,000 pages which means replacing the HP toner
is not a frequent task. LaserJet M1005 toner cartridges are also very affordable, making this unit an economical choice for any office.
For the buyer on a tight budget, the HP LaserJet M1005 (or M1005 MFP) makes an excellent choice and cheaper choice over the long run when compared to HP ink
based printers. It has the low upfront price, toner-saving options and low-cost HP M1005 toner to keep operating costs to a minimum without sacrificing quality.
